SerpApi is the leading solution to integrate search data into web applications. Our API scrapes search engines, solves CAPTCHAs, and keeps up with changing page layouts in one simple GET request. Our customers include Apple, Shopify, Airbnb, GrubHub, and more.

We are looking for a Controller to join our team. The Controller will be in charge of accounting, financial operations, tax research, tax optimization, tax and payroll compliance, all tax filling, and various financial reporting. You will be working at our Austin, TX headquarters.

We can offer $120k - $140k per year (depending on profile), 15 days of PTO + Federal Holidays, 401k matching, Blue Cross Blue Shield health + dental insurance, and quarterly profit-sharing bonuses.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor bank, credit card, and other accounts
  • Oversee daily accounting
  • Ensure we don’t forget to report any expense from any account
  • Assist customers that need custom tax documents for vendor onboarding
  • Handle accounts payable (ensure invoices are correct, compliant, and proceed with a wire) and tax obligations (i.e., W-8 BEN, W-9, 1099s)
  • Oversee payroll, payroll reporting, payroll taxes, W-2, and 401ks
  • Put together detailed and accurate quarterly P&L statements for the team to see
  • Calculate profit share bonuses for each team member
  • Research, analyze, and calculate costs to run our service
  • File S-Corp taxes
  • File CEO's taxes
  • Ensure we stay compliant and don’t miss deadlines
  • Ensure accurate and timely payment of taxes, quarterly estimates, and other obligations
  • Research, analyze, and keep up with tax laws and regulations
  • Research, prepare, and claim R&D tax credits
  • Research, plan, and optimize QBI deduction
  • Research, identify, and advise on other tax optimizations
  • Required: CPA license
  • Required: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Appreciated: Experience in B2B SaaS, tech startups, R&D tax credits, S-Corp, QBI optimization, QBO, Stripe, Gusto, Google Sheets, Excel, CHIC (insurance entity), and/or international transactions
